Los lectores habrán advertido que la revista tiene nuevo editor. No obstante, mantendrá los lineamientos generales respecto de su formato, su rigor y calidad en la construcción de sus índices, los cuales señalan que no hay refundación. Por el contrario, continuará con la misma sistematicidad y empeño en entregar el conocimiento dentro de nuestro ámbito del arte, el diseño, la arquitectura y la ciudad, en sus múltiples articulaciones interdisciplinares, producido por estudiosos, investigadores y profesionales pertenecientes a la academia, cualquier otra adscripción institucional e independientes.

Adicionalmente a esta confirmación, es necesario insistir que el propósito de Revista 180 es la socialización del conocimiento, como es la naturaleza de la letra de molde desde Gutemberg y reflexionada por Victor Hugo en Ceci tuerá celá. En ocasiones, este propósito se diluye por una suerte de ensimismamiento que se distrae de una realidad general y humana, que es ávida de él, como afirmaba Nietzsche. En efecto, cuando una revista adscribe a una universidad, tiene mayor responsabilidad, cuando no es su propósito como pensamiento crítico, y no puede permanecer indiferente al debate que cuestiona el conocimiento como factor de poder y como mercancía, ambas en su interpretación más pedestre. Sin duda, se han colmado tolerancias que el mismo sistema ha creado y se ha invertido un rol: el del privilegio de ser cognoscente a los privilegios del productor. Porque conocer es un verdadero privilegio que brindan los sistemas civilizatorios, pero cualquier hábito -como el de producir conocimiento- se puede pervertir si pierde su sentido civilizador, educativo, formativo.

Así, el debate actual del sistema universitario y de investigación interroga sobre su propio rol y con frecuencia se ampara en la cantidad de citaciones o visitas de sus publicaciones. Por supuesto, hay que responder a preguntas lógicas, que no por remanidas pierden su brillo: ¿cómo se mide el impacto de un conocimiento? Evidentemente, una cuantificación selectiva -es decir, entre pares-, si comprueba que este es hablado y actuado, pero cabe preguntar si, también cualitativamente, la arquitectura, el diseño y el arte han avanzado de modo relevante o exclusivo a través de aquel mecanismo.

Este es el debate actual, pero no impedirá continuar con la tarea editora que dedicará especial atención y sensibilidad al estado del arte y las necesidades del cognoscente con inclusividad, disciplinariedad universitaria y amplitud.

De este modo, la revista invita a esta inevitable reflexión acerca de la responsabilidad de producir conocimiento y su divulgación, que contribuya al avance de las disciplinas que convoca.

Readers might have noticed that Revista 180 has a new editor. However, it will maintain its distinguishing features such as format, rigor and quality in the construction of contents, which show that there won’t be re founders. On the contrary, it will continue with the same systematicity and determination to deliver knowledge in art, design and architecture-in their multiple interdisciplinary articulations-produced by scholars, investigators and professionals of the academy, institutions and independents.

Additionally, we must insist that Revista 180’s purpose is the socialization of knowledge, such as the nature of Gutenberg’s movable-type, and as reflected by Victor Hugo in Ceci tuerá celá. On occasions, this purpose is diluted by a self-absorption that is embezzled from a general and human reality, as affirmed by Nietzsche. In fact, when a journal is affiliated to a University, it has a major responsibility-assuming that one of them is to develop critical thinking-and it cannot remain indifferent to the debate that questions knowledge as a power factor and as goods, both in their most pedestrian interpretation. Definitely, there has been a saturation of tolerance created by the same system, and a role has inverted: from the advantage of being knowledgeable to the privileges of the producer. Because knowing is a real privilege given by civilized systems, but any habit-such as producing knowledge-can be perverted if its civilized, educative, and formative sense is missed.

Thus, the actual debate of the University and investigation system, questions over its own role and is frequently sheltered by the number of citations or visits of its publications. By all means, we must answer logical questions-that even if overexposed do not lose their importance-: how do you measure the impact of a knowledge? Evidently, a selective quantification-peer reviewed-does confirms that this is spoken and acted upon, but we must question if, qualitatively, architecture, design and art have progressed in a relevant or exclusive manner through this mechanism.

This is the current debate, but it won’t hinder the editorial task that will dedicate special attention and sensibility to the state of the art and cognitive necessities with inclusiveness, university discipline and amplitude.

In this way, the journal invites you to this inevitable reflection upon the responsibility of producing knowledge and its circulation, that contributes to the improvement of the disciplines that convene.
