This paper studies the way in which the novel Maldita yo entre las mujeres (1991) appropriates deconstructively the principles and functions of national Latin American novels in order to produce a critical effect on the consolidation of the colonial rule in this geopolitical space, and to emphasize the painful character of the mestizo experience. Thus, rather than a representation of the mestizo subject as part of a romance serving as an allegory of a conciliatory relationship among social or ethnic groups in conflict, an exercise of epistemic violence and identity disciplining - whose response is the practice of a resistance strategy at colonial power of her part - is articulated around this subject, personified as the Quintrala, a mestizo-witch woman.
