HERNANDEZ LECHUGA, Marcela Beatriz y MARTINEZ MINGUEZ, Lurdes. Presence of psychomotricity and psychomotor therapists in Chilean educational legislation on childhood. A documentary analysis. Perspect. educ. [online]. 2022, vol.61, n.1, pp.127-151. ISSN 0718-9729. http://dx.doi.org/10.4151/07189729-vol.61-iss.1-art.1207.
This article shows the conclusions of a study confirming the presence of Psychomotricity as a guarantor of children’s rights, contributing to educational quality and pedagogical and contextualized innovation within the new Chilean General Law of Education (20.370 law or GLE). Using qualitative methodology, a content analysis was made from regulations and laws related to childhood. The results show us that there are technical orientations on psychomotricity, where psychomotor therapists are highlighted as adults with specific skills that could collaborate with the decrease of inequality existing in the country nowadays. Psychomotor therapists focus on the developmental needs of children, their families and their environment. In conclusion, there is recognition of the role of the psychomotor therapist in the Early Childhood education program, although it does not exist as an undergraduate career.
