Resumen

MONTECINO SOTO, Lésmer Antonio  y  ARANCIBIA AGUILERA, María Cristina. Appraisal resources in comments posted on blogs of online Chilean newspapers: Discourse representations of growth, inequality and social justice. Boletín de Filología [online]. 2015, vol.50, n.2, pp.77-101. ISSN 0718-9303.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-93032015000200004.

The objective of this study is to make visible the linguistic-discursive strategies that reflect the bloggers’ appraisal of news, columns and interviews that account for the relationship between growth, inequality and social justice. The opinions posted on online journals provide evidence on the discursive resistance or naturalization of states of affairs related to poverty. This study will focus on the framework provided by the Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough 2010; Fairclough and Fairclough 2012), focusing on the interpersonal meaning and its constituent elements, specifically on appraisal resources (Martiny Rose 2007; Martin y White 2005) that are expressed in a corpus of blog comments. The latter have been posted on portals of online newspapers. The comments analyzed express the obvious irritation of bloggers by the cleavage between the demands of the street and the exercise of citizens hip through the vote. The results of the analysis demonstrate the prevalence of a large number of judgments of social sanction that constitute a polarized reality that privileges the notion of economic growth, obsession with success and fear in detriment of values such as equality and justice.

Palabras clave : blog comment; memory; Appraisal theory; judgment of social sanction.
