Ladybird beetle Hyperaspis matronata (Mulsant) is recorded for the first time in Venezuela based on two male specimens from Península de Macanao, Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta state. Images of genitalia are provided in order to validate the determination. The record comes from a hot and dry region with thorny scrub-type vegetation. This species expands by more than 2,500 km its distribution to the north of the continent.
