In an educational context of public policies that have begun to prioritize comprehensive student training and health promotion, the results of a documentary analysis are presented, we present the results of a documentary analysis whose purpose is to identify the presence-absence of indicators of an ethics of care in national and local educational policies. Analysis of 24 educational laws and 22 Annual Plans of Municipal Education (PADEM) of the Santiago Province carried out in a double analysis, deductive-inductive, resulted in four central categories: references to care, care practices, who cares and who required care. The concept of care is mainly associated with good coexistence, students are cared for primarily and care agents are more diverse. Regarding the practices, the emphasis placed on what is prohibited, such as school violence and arbitrary discrimination, as well as the prevention of self-injurious behaviors and the consumption of alcohol and drugs stands out. The report concludes by contextualizing these results in the prevailing neoliberal model in the country. Care is stressed by prohibitive, individualizing, decontextualized and segregating policies logics.
