PIRAS, Gioia. Emotions and migration: The emotional experiences of children left-behind. Psicoperspectivas [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.3, pp.67-77. ISSN 0718-6924. http://dx.doi.org/10.5027/psicoperspectivas-Vol15-Issue3-fulltext-783.
Nowadays international migration is characterized by the possibility of making transnational the relationships within families geographically dispersed, which allow a circulation of care, affection and emotions in a global level connecting places of origin and destination, despite the physical distance. The aim of this article is to show some research results of a qualitative fieldwork done in Peru with teenagers whom mothers and/or fathers have emigrated to another country, and in some cases with a return process. The goal is to know the emotional universe in relation to the emigration and absence of their parent, the relationships and affective experiences in the distance, and the emotional and care replacement developed by other/s person/s. The results indicate ambivalent feelings, a great personal effort to re configure their daily life and emotions, the importance of care networks and the communication maintenance with the emigrated parent. We conclude that the relation between transnational childhood/motherhood/fatherhood is built dialectically with the subjectivity of agencies and the sociocultural frameworks which fit them.
