Abstract

GUZMAN, Guillermo. Paralomis sonne: a new species of Lithodid crab (Decapoda, Paguroidea, Lithodidae) in deep waters off Antofagasta, Chile. Lat. Am. J. Aquat. Res. [online]. 2009, vol.37, n.2, pp.253-257. ISSN 0718-560X.

Paralomis sonne n. sp. is described from material collected off Antofagasta, Chile (22°48,07'S-70°42,29'W) at 1,775 m depth during the PUCK-156 expedition on board the RV Sonne. The carapace of this new species is densely covered with sharp spines, which differentiates it from all other Chilean species of the same genus. This is the tenth species of the genus recorded in southeastern Pacific waters.

Keywords : Paralomis sonne n. sp; Lithodidae; deep waters; northern Chile; southeastern Pacific.
