The educational work in Cuban Higher Education becomes an essential support for the integral formation process of the university student. Facing such a challenge is a complex task that requires the leading role of university professors in order to educate in the 21st century. Based on these arguments, the present work intends to make a critical analysis of the educational work of university professors in their role as professional educators. To this end, a study of the classic and contemporary literature on the subject was carried out, which made it possible to reveal the theoretical and methodological points of reference of the studies that preceded it and to offer a methodological proposal that favors the effective preparation of university teachers to attend to the professional and personal-social training of university students in the context of the transformations that are taking place in Cuban society today.
