REBOLLEDO-REBOLLEDO, Raquel. Research in the initial teacher training of History and Geography teachers: Confusion of purpose from the curricular documents. Rev. estud. exp. educ. [online]. 2020, vol.19, n.40, pp.111-128. ISSN 0718-5162.  http://dx.doi.org/10.21703/rexe.20201940rebolledo6.

The article presents the results of the research that had the objective of recognizing the meanings around the construction of knowledge in research, in some regional universities that develop the initial formation of History and Geography teachers, through the discourses present in curricular documents. It is developed from the interpretative paradigmatic perspective, under an inductive and flexible design. The information gathering techniques implemented include documentary work and analysis, through the condensation of meanings. It is developed based on curricular documents from three regional universities in the central-southern zone of Chile, which incorporate the degree in History and Geography Pedagogy. Among the principal results is that teacher training in Chile is strongly marked by the specialty. This is due to the fact that the historical and geographic disciplines are seen as anchor sciences for developing research in the training of future teachers of the specialty. Thus, the curricular proposal, although it incorporates research in the training of history and geography teachers, reveals a diversity of objectives that, in an almost pendulum action, move from research in the discipline to research in pedagogy, or both, and opens up the possibility that researchers may determine according to their interests. This could provide a wide range of research possibilities, moving from the disciplinary to the pedagogical or vice versa, and shows how little clarity there is in the construction of research knowledge for teacher training, which contributes to the weakened position within the ends of pedagogy and of research itself.
