Abstract

FUENTES RETAMAL, Pablo. The anarchist melodrama Aires de la pampa by Victor Domingo Silva and its articulation of the time according to Mijail Bakunin’s libertarian utopia. Izquierdas (Santiago) [online]. 2015, n.22, pp.1-19. ISSN 0718-5049.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-50492015000100001.

The present article examines the play Aires de la pampa (1916) by Victor Domingo Silva with the purpose of specifying what aspects of the anarchist ideology apprehended by the author, during his youth, maintain validy in his subsequent writing practice. The melodrama Aires de la Pampa tries to represent the social unrest experienced in Iquique at the beginning of the twentieth century, revealing a construction of the time which coincides with the assumptions described by Mijail Bakunin in his libertarian utopia. That is to say, the preponderance of the Present for the construction of a Future society by means of the Revolution.

Keywords : Victor Domingo Silva; Aires de la pampa; Anarchism; Mijail Bakunin; time.
