The purpose of this study is to determine the importance of proposing integrating problems for the development of student’s cognitive and learning skills in the subject of Physics for Civil Engineering careers. The problem that is presented to the students is related to housing thermal comfort and requires knowledge of science and basic technologies. The evaluation of the solutions proposed by different groups of students is done through discussion of the reports in a constructive debate, which involves a reflection on the strengths and challenges identified, while the working methodology is evaluated with a questionnaire. The results indicate that the methodology used optimizes the teaching of physics, allowing students to be exposed to real problems. The students develop cognitive skills that promote their learning and contribute to the development of better professional competences.
