The process of implementing a blended learning education program with support of information and communication technologies (ICT) in a freshman course of the Agronomic Engineering career is presented and analyzed. The characteristics and academic performance of students who joined the proposal in comparison with those that chose the traditional type course with the presence of students, is discussed. The results show that the average age and the percentage of students who work were higher in blended learning model, while academic performance observed was similar in both groups analyzed. Based on the results it can be concluded that the development of educational virtual offers using the new learning environments need appropriate combinations of several factors that affect the teaching-learning process in students.
