In this article, the author shows the different approaches to reproductive health, specifically in the prescription of emergency oral contraceptives (“the morning after pill”), both in Chile and in Canada. A study is carried out on the social and ideological postures of the argumentative subjects, divided in three fields: religious, scientific and political. A conclusion is put forward claiming that arguments must no be examined only on their logical structure, but mainly on their social and ideological foundations.
