This article inquiries into how common and opposite concepts between Hegel and Ricoeur can contribute to a practical philosophy, and especially to applied ethics. In interdisciplinary dialog with forms of knowledge about which Ricoeur showed special interest along the development of his thought: psychology, history, law, politics, theology. First,  it presents a general framework around the concepts of practical reason, practical wisdom and recognition, following with more specific issues relating to some of the specific disciplines that make use of those and other concepts on applied ethics.
