FONSECA CANTEROS, Marcelo. Importance of spiritual and religious aspects in treatment of surgical patients. Rev Chil Cir [online]. 2016, vol.68, n.3, pp.258-264. ISSN 0718-4026. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.rchic.2016.03.011.
During the last decades, spirituality and religion have been retaken as important aspects on patient's care, not only for decision making but as one of the elements that impact positively or negatively in clinical outcome and quality of life of patients. This has impacted, among other things, that in most countries, including Chile, the reception of spiritual and religious caring during hospitalizations has become a right guaranteed by law. Nevertheless, in practice, in most cases, this is reserved only for some terminal cancer patients and/or with catastrophic diseases. The target of this work is to present the importance of spirituality and religion in patient care, particularly surgical.
