This paper deals with specific performance in the Common Law. The main purpose here is to determine whether the widespread idea that Common Law dismisses specific performance as a remedy in case of breach of contract is effective. The work studies why there is a trend in this legal tradition to award damages over specific performance in cases of contractual breach. This issue is undertaken from a historical and current perspective
