MANCILLA VILLA, Oscar Raúl et al. Ionio strength and heavy metals in irrigation water basin Ayuquila-Tuxcacuesco-Armeria river. Idesia [online]. 2017, vol.35, n.3, pp.115-123. ISSN 0718-3429. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-34292017005000303.
High levels of heavy metals concentrations in water used for irrigation represent an important agriculture and human healthproblem as well as for biodiversity, for that reason this paper regarding water quality in the basin was conducted river Ayuquila-Tuxcacuesco-Armeria. The study was conducted between February and April 2014, 40 water samples were taken. Hydrogen potential analyzed, electrical conductivity (EC), anions, cations and total As and heavy metals Cd, Hg and Pb. The bicarbonate anion and the magne-sium cation predominated in the distribution of the ionic concentration. Heavy metals were determined using the recommended EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and APHA (American Public Health Association) methodology. Water quality criteria NOM-001-ECOL-1996,EPA (1986)andSEDESOL (1989) was compared. The results showed low values in the concentration of heavy metals in water for agricultural irrigation and urban use, not for natural waters, for 100% of the samples had levels above the permissible limits for Hg and 92.5% for Pb. The higher the concentration presented with values of 0.0039 Hg mg L-1 to 0.0203 mg L-1, while lower values of 0.0007 mg L-1 to 0.0086 mg L-1 was for Pb. As for salinity, the samples entered the classifications C2, C3 and C4, and in sodicity all were classified as S1. In dissolved solids the majority have values between 450-2,000 mg L-1.
