The effect of the incorporation of organic matter (M.O.) (4% and 6%) on the soil as a mitigation of salinity and excess boron in tomato plants was evaluated. The physiological parameters (net assimilation of CO2(A), transpiration rate (E) and stomatal conductance (gs)) were analyzed, and ions as boron (B) and sodium (Na+) content in tomato plant tissue "Poncho Negro" (PN) and commercial hybrid "Naomi". The plants grew in conditions of high salinity and excess of B in field in the valley of Lluta, north of Chile. The results showed an increase in CO2 assimilation with the incorporation of 6% of M.O. to the soil and a lower accumulation of B in pre-harvest leaves, both in the "Poncho Negro" variety and in "Naomi". As for the Na+ content, this was distributed in similar proportions in the different structures of the plant, with a better effect in "Poncho Negro".
