Chicha is the main object of study of this article, as central object of Chilean folk and country life. The cultural importance of it, that remains in time, is opposed to historical studies that almost denied these traditional products, which were left out of the modernization ofproduction of the time. To do this, the presence of chicha is investigated in the press of the nineteenth century, in the peasant collection of stories FUCOA and folklore and folk poetry.
