Abstract
SILVA JAQUE, Claudia; ALAY MARQUEZ, Andrica and NEGRON GUERRERO, Nicole. Characteristics of eight pepper experimental hybrids (Capsicum annuum L.) in Valle de Azapa. Idesia [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.3, pp.107-111. ISSN 0718-3429. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-34292013000300015.
Growth characteristics of 8 experimental hybrid peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) were evaluated. Three trompito type fruits and five cuatro cascos fruit type were studied to determine which of these represents a better productive alternative for farmers of Azapa valley. The parameters measured were plant height determined where trompito type fruit plants showed no significant differences, nor on the weight of fruits produced. In hybrids with cuatro cascos fruit type, despite showing a larger plant with respect to trompito type, cuatro cascos hybrids type generally showed lower fruit fresh weight and a lower percentage of moisture in them. No significant differences were found in yield (kg/ha) among the studied hybrids of both types of fruit. With respect to phenology, the hybrid showed higher precocity in fruit ripening was P0075, (trompito fruit type), also showing a greater number of fruits. It is emphasized that characteristic of precocity displayed may be an alternative product of interest to Azapa valley farmers, one of the themes that must be emphasized in future assays.
