The objective of the present work was to determine the effect of two in-row spacings (0.15 and 0.25 m) and two fertilization levels (250 and 500 kg of 12-24-12/ha) on some boll characters in three cotton cultivars, viz, Deltapine Acala 90 (DPA90), Cabuyare (CAB) and Deltapine 16 DP16, in the savanna of Jusepín, Monagas State. A three-factor experiment in a randomized complete block design was used with three replications. Each experimental unit was constituted by three 5-meter rows separated 0,80 m between them. A second nitrogen application was made with urea at 18 days after sowing at 150 kg/ha. There were significant differences for the interaction Cultivars*Row Spacing for: boll weight/plant; in CAB this parameter was superior at 0.25 m-row spacing, while in DPA90 and DP16, this character was similar in both row-spacing. There were significant differences for the interaction Cultivars*Fertilization levels for: boll weight/plant: in DP16, this character was superior at 250 kg of 12-24-12/ha, while in DPA90 and CAB, it was similar in both fertilization levels. There were significant differences for the three factors interaction (Cultivars*Row Spacing*fertilization levels) for: a) seed cotton weight/boll: at 250 kg/ha there were not significant differences among cultivars sowed in both row spacings, excepting DP16 at 0.15 m-row spacing, that presented the lowest value, whereas at dose of 500 kg/ha, CAB at 0.25 m presented a bigger seed cotton/boll than CAB at 0,15 m-row spacing and DP16 at 0.25 m; b) seed weight/boll and c) fiber weight/boll presented similar tend that of seed cotton weight/boll; d) bur weight/boll: at 250 kg/ha, DP16 at 0.15 m has a bigger bur weight than CAB at 0.15 m, while at dose of 500 kg/ha, DP16 at 0.15 m has a bigger bur weight than CAB at 0.25 m. These results indicate that CAB had better boll characteristics than DPA90 y DP16.
