MARTINIC B, Mateo. THE AÓNIKENK. EPITOME OF THE NOBLE SAVAGE?. Magallania [online]. 2013, vol.41, n.1, pp.5-27. ISSN 0718-2244. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-22442013000100001.
The relationship between aboriginal americans and foreigners during the extended period between the arrival of Europeans in the late XVth and early XXth century has been subject of constant interest for historians and ethnographers, having created countless studies and considerations on the subject in terms of its implications for indigenous people. In this context, it seemed interesting to consider the case of Aónikenk ethnic group, both because of the long lasting validity of the relationship between its members and outsiders and for determining their character, on the basis of the analysis of historically documented contacts. So it has been established that the relations were overwhelmingly peaceful, circumstance that can be explained by the good disposition or character of the natives, which has thus persisted to posterity as a feature worth exceptional knowledge.
