The present article partially covers the findings on the 2016-2017 Universidad La República seed- funded qualitative research project “Social Representation of The Body and ‘Flaite’ Style in Young Law Offenders”, based on a sample of five drug - using young heterosexual law offenders between 16 and 18 from Rancagua. Its main findings highlight the construction of masculinity in young individuals as a process mediated by seasonal, homoerotic practices and detachment from a patriarchal male beauty (masculineality) to favor a new, female-nurtured paradigm opening a new, alternative way to consolidate their male identity (male alterity).
