Based on a qualitative type research on gender identity this article attempts to explain the way subjective change takes place. Eight life stories of Chilean men and women are analyzed. The discussion focussed on the double connotation of change and continuity, that is expressed in theses life stories about the identity gender dimension. This article also develops some issues about biographical approach and qualitative methodology wich are relevant from a clinical research view point.
