The present work says relationship with the two-dimensional numerical model of the wood drying kinetics based on the water potential concept. The mathematical model is based on a set of non-linear second partial differential equations, which is solved by a numerical procedure using the Finite Volume Method in a generalized coordinates system. Results of drying curves and isoconcentrations are shown for Populus sp. wood and compared with experimental data. It has been concluded that the present numerical method allows to simulate the wood drying satisfactorily obtaining detailed information about the wood moisture content distributions
