Siliceous raw materials played a key role in the technological organization of Taltal's archaic populations, as witnessed by its ubiquity in the local archaeological sites. Nevertheless, cruciala spects like their sources and the strategies deployed for their procurement have been referred only tangentially in the archaeological literature of the area. This work develops a systematization of the archaeological data available for the study area and a methodological proposal for the remote tracking of potential archaic quarries. Additionally, the first results of field surveying in Taltal's Intermediate Depression and the analysis of multispectral satellite imagery is presented.
