Estud. atacam. [online]. 2009, n.37, pp.51-61. ISSN 0718-1043. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-10432009000100004.
The Northwestern Argentina-South Bolivian macroregion and the neighbouring areas of Chile have received raising attention in the last two decades. Research in the Sama Altiplano part of this macroregion was first undertaken in the years 2000 and 2003. The material collected during the last field season was submitted to a multicomponent ceramic analysis in order to obtain as much information as possible about the regions prehispanic population. It revealed intense and varied relationships with the adjacent valley of Tarija, altiplano of Lípez and the argentinian Puna regions both during the Late Regional Development and Inca periods (ca. 900-1535 AD).
