Resumen

GARCIA NEGRONI, María Marta. Subjectivity and academic scientific discourse: Some subjectivity marks in research articles in Spanish. Rev. signos [online]. 2008, vol.41, n.66, pp.9-31. ISSN 0718-0934.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-09342008000100001.

The purpose of this paper is to study some marks of subjectivity in research articles in Spanish. In a corpus of research articles on History, Linguistics, Geology and Medicine, I focus first on person markers, the clearest trace of the author in discourse. Second I concentrate on the ways to refer to other people’s discourse and different attitudes facing those voices authors show. Within this frame, I analyse inverted commas, evident marks of heterogeneity in discourse, which allow the author to unfold her discourse and make a comment on words while using them. I conclude that, far from being objective, neutral and monological, the research article presents subjective and polyphonic marks of many kinds and that those marks can correlate with the constitution of diverse discursive ethos, according to disciplines

Palabras clave : Research articles; subjectivity; person markers; quotes; inverted commas.
