Resumen
RUBIO, José M.; NEIRA-PENA, Tanya; MOLINA, Danilo y VIDAL-SILVA, Cristian. UBOT project: virtual assistant for virtual learning environments. Inf. tecnol. [online]. 2022, vol.33, n.4, pp.85-92. ISSN 0718-0764. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-07642022000400085.
The main objective of this study is to present UBOT, a virtual assistant that can be integrated and adapted to virtual environments to deliver updated administrative and procedural information. Virtual learning environments allow conducting online classes while enhancing interactivity, greatly benefiting educational institutions. Usually, there is not a dominant shared space among virtual assistants, which is a major issue for beginner teachers and students as they often conduct activities on different virtual environments. The development of UBOT emphasizes communicational socio-affective aspects, which are key to enhancing communication between students and teachers. Currently, the UBOT virtual assistant is in its testing stage and is integrated into the Bernardo O'Higgins University's (Chile) virtual classroom, making it accessible to the entire university community. UBOT has shown successful results in its pilot test. In conclusion, UBOT is a promising solution for improving student interactions and communications on virtual environments and web applications owned by educational institutions.
