The paper's objective is to deliver information and analysis that could be useful as a starting point to feed a debate in the Chilean legal community about the issue of wrongful convictions (miscarriages of justice), its causes, and specially, in the identification of practices developed by the different actors of our criminal justice system that could influence cases of miscarriages of justice in Chile. To achieve this goal the paper will review the current debate at comparative level (with focus in the Anglo-Saxon world and particularly in the Unites States) and then will present evidence that shows in Chile we should be more concern about this issue in the nearfuture.
