DEL SOL, Mariano  y  EPULEF, Valeria. M. fibular digiti minimi. Int. J. Morphol. [online]. 2004, vol.22, n.2, pp.173-176. ISSN 0717-9502.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-95022004000200013.

Muscle variations in the dorsum or lateral border of foot are not frequent, nor it is possible to find much literature about the subject in anatomy textbooks, although these muscles might eventually produce alterations in articular mechanics. We describe the presence of a supernumerary muscle found in a foot of a formolized adult male corpse dissected in the Course of Functional Anatomy of the foot belonging to the Master of Science, Mention Morphology Program of the Universidad de La Frontera, Chile. The supernumerary muscle to the little toe originated by means of a flattened tendon in the lateral surface of the fibula proximal to the lateral malleolus. The small fusiform muscular belly was located in the lateral border of foot and it continued with a long tendon that attachment, in the dorsal surfaces of the distal phalanx of the little toe. This muscular variation is not frequent and consist of a complete form of the fibular quartus muscle named correctly according to its attachments of M. fibular digiti minimi. Its dorsolateral position might produce and extension and abduction of the little toe
