Resumen
MARCONI, Juan. A Theoretical Model of Normal Reality Awareness. Rev. chil. neuro-psiquiatr. [online]. 2001, vol.39, n.2, pp.158-164. ISSN 0717-9227. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-92272001000200009.
A telescopic structure of reality awareness is proposed, based on Janet's fonction du réel (1908), Jaspers' reality experience and reality judgment (1913), and Weisman's meaning and testing of reality (1958). The structure has three functional levels, global, affective and cognitive, which are defined according to the analysis of eight parameters. During rest periods, the global level contains the affective level, which in turn encompasses the cognitive level. The last two levels emerge depending on the task to be accomplished. As a biopsychosocial phenomenon, reality awareness changes according to three temporal axes: sleep-wakefulness, a short cycle; birth to adulthood, an intermediate cycle; and a longer, sociocultural cycle, which goes from magic thought in primitive cultures to rational or cognitive thought in stratified, technological cultures
