MONTT SCHROEDER, Indira. ELEMENTOS DE ATUENDO E IMAGEN RUPESTRE EN LA SUBREGIÓN DE RÍO SALADO, NORTE GRANDE DE CHILE. Chungará (Arica) [online]. 2004, vol.36, suppl., pp.651-661. ISSN 0717-7356. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-73562004000400010.
Along the history of archaeological research works that consider the religious, magic, cultic, mithic-ritualist or ceremonial aspects of rock art. This kind of interpretations are based on categories and explicative models detached from the representation and the way it is constructed. This investigation begins from a different premise: the rupestrine image can be analyzed and interpreted, and therefore known by itself, and the elements and attributes that shapes it, for us to go into its inherent sociocultural contents. Maybe the most important thing of this article is the idea of an image study from its production context and not from the use context. In this perspective, this study assumes the problem of the anthropomorfic figures and their attire. Fringed pubic coverings, headdresses and hand objects are repeatedly represented, reaching the 77% of the total anthropomorfic figures, in a temporal continuity that obviously presents formal variability and differences in their expression. In a parallel way a revision of this materials in the Norte Grande was realized obtaining orientations that are considered in this article
