Abstract: The present work seeks to investigate the relationship between the work of César Vallejo (1892-1938) and Romanticism, a relationship that can be analyzed from his thesis work at the University of Trujillo, Romanticism in Castilian Poetry (RCP), where he explores the main characteristics of this movement, -mainly in Spain- as the driving force behind its subsequent passage to socialism. The thesis, in a clear exaltation of elements such as the medium, the moment, and subjectivity, expresses as an essential element an attachment to tradition without disconnecting from a subsequent critique of the society of its time, using a more direct language.
