PARDO, María Victoria. Error analysis as evidence of interlanguage of students of english as a foreign language. Lit. lingüíst. [online]. 2021, n.43, pp.281-307. ISSN 0716-5811. http://dx.doi.org/10.29344/0717621x.43.2836.
This article presents the analysis of the first three most common errors in the written production of English as a foreign language (ILE) in a corpus of learners collected at the Universidad del Nor te in Barranquilla, Colombia. The corpus was compiled following the parameters of computational corpus linguistics and the removal of errors was done with specialized software for linguistic analysis, WordSmith Tools 5 Scott (2008) and Lancsbox (Brezina et al., 2015). The analysis was based on the theory of Corder (1981) and James (1998) on error analysis (AE) and used the University of Louvaina tagger (Dagneaux et al., 2005a) to obtain comparable results with similar works. According to the results, the three most relevant writing errors committed by university students belong to the categories of Form (FS), Grammar (G), and Lexicon (LS).
