Abstract
DE LA FUENTE, José Alberto. Disparates religiosos y políticos en la poesía de Nicanor Parra. Lit. lingüíst. [online]. 2007, n.18, pp.35-58. ISSN 0716-5811. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0716-58112007000100003.
The Chilean poet Nicanor Parra (1914), his poetry and his person, provoke controversial judgments in the reader and critics. The purpose of this work is to make an interpretation -as a preview- from the religious and political point of view of his work compiled in the first volume of his Complete Works (2006) and from other books published after 1972. The religious and political dimension of this anti-poet is structured with a bipolar logic with a popular culture in the context of a modernity which goes through a paradigm crisis. Some critics have come to claim that Parra is the best living poet of the western world, from which we should infer that he is the loyal representative of the phenomenological history of the XX century. Is this claim sensible?.
