Resumen

IGLESIAS-PASCUAL, Ricardo; HURTADO-RODRIGUEZ, Claudia  y  OLIVEIRA-NEVES, Gwendoline De. Migración, educación y renta. Un análisis socioterritorial sobre la aparición electoral de la extrema derecha en el espacio metropolitano de Andalucía (2018-2019). EURE (Santiago) [online]. 2023, vol.49, n.146, pp.1-24. ISSN 0250-7161.  http://dx.doi.org/10.7764/eure.49.146.11.

The growth of the extreme right in Europe since late 20th century, had not become apparent in Spain until VOX emerged in the Andalusian elections of 2018, a situation that leads us to analyze its relationship with the metropolitan socioeconomic context. Such analysis uses Spearman’s spatial correlation and quadratic and linear regression models, applied at the scale of the census section both to the presence of migrant population and to the educational level and average income of the metropolitan areas of reception, so as to determine the incidence of both factors in the electoral results of VOX. As in previous research, the results obtained show a certain correspondence between the settlement of the migrant population and greater support for VOX. However, analyzing by metropolitan area and areas with the highest concentration of migrants, we find that support for VOX, especially in 2018, is higher in educated and well-off areas, compared to areas with high concentration of migrant population.

Palabras clave : metropolitan areas; social conflict; migration.
