Both insights lead to the recovery of the popular dimension of sacred liturgy understood as it really is: “an act performed by and for the priestly people”. This theology expresses itself not only in the active role of the celebrating assembly but also in a renewed understanding of the ex opere operato in which the performative dimension of the whole celebration in sacramental.
