Scope and policy

Revista RIVAR publish results of original researches. These are organized in three sections: Articles, Reviews and Sources and document analysis. Articles adhere to general criteria of academic journals; Reviews is dedicated to book and thesis comments. Sources and document analysis includes works about critical analysis of different sources (photography, historical documents and others) or original and unpublished works that offer research material.

The articles are evaluated by two specialists, by anonymous peer review.

The evaluation time is 90 days. The article can be accepted without modifications, accepted with minor modifications or rejected. The editor will communicate to the author the decisions within a maximum period of 100 days from the delivery of the text.

When submitting an article to Revista RIVAR the author has the right to express a conflict of interests with any person of our editors. The journal undertakes to respect confidentiality about that information. Only objections based on people will be considered, not to institutions or research units.

The Editorial Board emphasizes that the evaluation process watchs the originality of the works and detect plagiarism, as well as falsified or manipulated data. Sendind an article, review or document to Revista RIVAR implies the commitment not to submit simultaneously to another journal: must be unpublished and exclusive until then. Once published in Revista RIVAR the text can be reproduced, totally or partially, quoting the original publication of the journal.

    “Quote” (Last name, year: page).

Example: “Rasgo particular del comparatismo, para bien o para mal, es la consciencia problemática de su propia identidad y, en consecuencia, la inclinación a apoyarse en su propia historia” (Guillén, 1985: 122).

  • Large quotation (over forty words): add indentantion and font size 10 followed by a parenthesis that indicates last name of the author, year of publication and page number.

  • If the quotation exceeds three authors only the first name is mentioned and then add et al.

  • Every reference must be included in the References section.

References must necessarily include any quotation present in the text. The entries are listed in alphabetical order.

  • Books

Mellafe, R. y Loyola, G. (1994). La memoria de América colonial. Santiago de Chile: Editorial Universitaria.

In case there is more than one book by the same author, the references are ordered according to year of publication (from most recent to oldest). If in addition to repeating the authorsip the years of publication are the same, these differ with a letter in alphabetical order (2012a, 2012b, 2012c), distinction that will remain both prose and References.
