| REV CHIL OBSTET GINECOL 2004; 69(3): 266 CRÓNICA DIRECTOR EJECUTIVO DE FIGO
FIGO _The International Federation of Gynecology & Obstetrics_ is currently expanding its charitable work in low and middle-income countries, in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights. This requires additional fundraising, and the Federation is therefore seeking an Executive Director to assist in writing proposals to international agencies, and the pharmaceutical industry, as well as following up on these proposals with individual contacts. In addition, the Executive Director will be expected from time to time to undertake additional duties at the request of the FIGO Officers and Executive Board, including the management of specified aspects of FIGO's charitable projects. The successful candidate will be a health professional well versed in international reproductive health issues - an obstetrician/gynecologist or senior midwife would be the most obvious candidate although other health professionals with suitable experience will be considered. He/she will have the following experience and qualities: _ Excellent writing skills in English. One other language (French, Spanish) would be an asset. _ Demonstrated experience of grant writing and report writing _ Demonstrated success in fund raising and/or lobbying. _ Good personal skills - a team player _ A personal network in international reproductive health would be an asset This will be a part time position requiring a commitment of an average two days per week. The initial contract will be fixed term ending in November 2006. The FIGO secretariat and its Secretary General are based in London, while its remaining five Officers are based around the world. It is envisaged, however, that much of the work can be accomplished by e-mail and telephone. The location of the successful candidate is therefore of limited importance. International travel, undertaken in accordance with FIGO's travel policy, will be needed to follow up on contacts with organizations and companies. Salary will be by negotiation according to experience. Depending on the success of this initial employment, FIGO plans to expand the role of the Executive Director at the end of 2006 to encompass duties relating to FIGO's triennial World Congress. At this time, it is likely that the post will be re-advertised and that the role will evolve into a full-time position. Applications, accompanied by a full CV, should be sent to: Professor S Arulkumaran CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 29 October 2004. |
