Abstract: Based on a ease study about an organization formed by towns from Mexieo City in order to keep management of their vaults, this work is intended to show some of the methods used to form an organization that joined individuals and eommunities from several places of the eity; beeause of this faet, the relationship between these individuals and eommunities and their eity is different. Several aspeets are reviewed, sueh as: the role of eemeteries in eommunity life; the eonstant relationships of the towns among themselves and with the authorities of the eity; the affnities ereated by eelebrations and traditions; and the relationships imposed by the administrative division within territories in the eity. At the same time, emphasis is put on how this proeess tested the identities by whieh these eommunities have united soeially and politieally, in this ease, the so ealled pueblos (towns) in the eity.
