The purpose of this article is to represent the integration process of a peripheral territory inhabited and built by immigrants from southern Mexico, mainly Mixteca people from Oaxaca, into Mexico City. It analyzes the transition of this area from a stigmatized zone to the pride of its inhabitants for the urban amenities achieved through community organization centered on the Union de Colonos.
