CARDENAS M, Carlos; JOHNSON G, Erling e CARVALLO B, Rubén. Surface an subglacier topography near to the O'Higgins Base Station at north of the Antarctic Peninsula. Anales Instituto Patagonia (Chile) [online]. 2011, vol.39, n.2, pp. 97-101. ISSN 0718-686X. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-686X2011000200008.
In January 2009, Radio Echo Sounding (RES) measures were made during the campaign in the northern part of the Antarctic Peninsula, at the surroundings of the Chilean Base Bernardo O’Higgins (63° 19’ S; 57° 53’ W). The system has three main components: Transmitter, Receiver and a Data Acquisition System. The transmitting antenna, penetrating the ice and then returning to the receptor after their refection in an internal target or bedrock, carries out radio frequency signals generated by the transmitter. The records are stored in a data acquisition system for post processing purposes. All radar data collected was georeferenced with post-processed GPS measurements. With the Radar and GPS data we will obtain the surface and subglacial topography.
