The Chilean system establishes two ways to react against criminality: sanctions and safety measures. Albeit this is an evident reality, neither the doctrine nor the law have treated in detail the right of the safety measures. This work presents the situation at a doctrinal level, setting the present desirable criterion, and then faces the reality of the legal system in this subject.
