The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of information literacy workshops in the acceptance and use of scientific databases. The research model of the study uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and includes two new antecedents: information skills and training in information technologies. The fieldwork is based on a sample of 400 Chilean university students. Group analysis based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) indicates that information literacy workshops have a significant and positive effect on the use of scientific databases. Additionally, the results support that information skills and training in information technologies explained indirectly - through perceived ease of use and intention to use - the use of scientific databases.
