The following article pro vides an approach to therapist development within three main levels. A theoretical one that responds to the knowledge and distinctions of the model to which each of the therapists ascribes. A practice, which includes the meaningful experiences at his work. Lastly, the therapist's own formative aspect related to his conflicts, motivations and resources. These levels are analyzed through actual formative and systemic perspectives, and through institutional efforts to assure quality and therapist accreditation. Finally a public service experience is described, from a specialty course, built within the last 10 years, in the Psychology School of Universidad Central de Chile.
