This article presents a theoretical review about adult attachment styles and how they can be approached in Psychotherapy. The review takes into consideration some measurements of adult attachment; present investigations that are reviewed, and some psychotherapeutic alternatives to produce cognitive change are suggested. The article deals with the concept of Working Models, by examining a method that suggests the recognition of the factors involved in good interpersonal relationships. This would be applied to the therapeutic relationship and to other interpersonal relationships. In a modified version oí the Adult Attachment Interview, the evaluation also includes a group method that explores patients' reactions. Finally, the confluence of different therapeutical approaches is discussed, emphasizing the importance of the therapeutic alliance as common factor
