Abstract

GALINDO R, José Luis et al. Hepatocellular carcinoma in a non cirrhotic liver. Rev Chil Cir [online]. 2012, vol.64, n.5, pp. 472-475. ISSN 0718-4026.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-40262012000500011.

Background: The appearance of hepatocellular carcinoma in non-cirrhotic livers is uncommon. Material and Method: We report a 62 years old woman presenting with a liver mass that was subjected to a left hepatectomy. Results: The pathology report disclosed a poorly to moderately differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma. The surrounding liver tissue was normal. Immunohistochemistry identified intracytoplasmic α-1 antitrypsin granules, confirming the suspicion of α-1 antitrypsin deficiency.

Keywords : Hepatocellular carcinoma; α-1 antitrypsin; cirrhosis.
