Background: Gallbladder cáncer is the first cause of cancer death among chilean women. Aim: To determine prognostic indicators of survival in gallbladder cancer. Material and methods: Retrospective review of medical records of 95 patients aged 34 to 86 years (69 females) with gallbladder cáncer diagnosed between 2001 and 2005 in a regional hospital. Pathological reports and clinical data of patients were reviewed. Five year survival was determined using Ufe tables. Results: Forty percent of tumors were classified as T3 and 32% as NO. Forty five percent of tumors were moderately differentiated. Five years survival was 29%. T and N classification, the degree of differentiation and the location of the tumor were prognostic factors for survival. Conclusions: Gallbladder cáncer in this series of patients had a bad five years survival that depends on the degree of tumor invasión and differentiation
